Exploring Coastal Maine

We met up with Max for a couple days of exploring coastal Maine on this fine holiday weekend! Sooo beautiful! The best of a New England summer...clear blue skies, puffy white clouds, warm sunshine, cool breezes, and gorgeous sweeping landscapes!

We went to the top of Mt. Battie in Camden State Park to enjoy the view of the Atlantic and the little bays, boats bobbing in harbor, sailboats under full sail.

After a tasty and healthy lunch break, we then headed out to see Breakwater Lighthouse. The breakwater, with its jumbo granite slabs, was built between 1881 and 1890. It is a 7/8-mile walk to get to the end of it where the lighthouse sits. The breeze was quite gusty, and we joked about being blown off. You had to watch each and every step you took to keep from falling into a crack.

And then it was definitely gelato time!

Now we understand why people are so smitten with coastal Maine! A perfect summer day in the sunshine and the sea breeze!
